Better With Age – Interview with Torbjørn Laundal (“Tobben”)

In March 2025, Stefan from Better With Age invited Norwegian MS-advocate and indoor rower Torbjørn “Tobben” Laundal to talk about MS, losing a lot of weight, and why he still rows 10k every day on a Concept2. This page makes that video easier to find – and connects it to Torbjørn’s own channel.

From MS diagnosis to daily discipline

Torbjørn was diagnosed with MS back in 2008/2009, but he didn’t let the diagnosis define him. In the conversation with Stefan he explains that movement became his way of staying functional: if he trains early, he gets more hours of real energy during the day. That’s why he often says: “do the most important thing first.”

Why indoor rowing?

Like a lot of Norwegians, he was inspired by strong rowers – and ended up on a Concept2. Rowing gave him what he needed: full-body work, low impact, and something he could do at home every single day regardless of weather. Over time, short sessions became 10k sessions – and then a daily habit.

Big weight loss, simple choices

A big part of the interview is about weight. Torbjørn explains that rowing and walking, combined with simpler food choices, took him from very heavy to healthy. Not because of a magic diet, but because he repeated the same good choices.

Training with MS fatigue

He also talks about fatigue – and he’s honest: he wakes up tired. But training actually helps him stay awake. That’s why he keeps doing 10k rows and why he shares it on his own channel: to show that you can live with MS and still move every day.
