2000 Days of Rowing – Gratitude, Structure & the Privilege to Keep Going

By Torbjørn “Tobben” Laundal – MS Warrior from Norway & creator of The MS Warrior Podcast.

On January 24, 2026, I reached a milestone I never took for granted: 2000 consecutive days of indoor rowing.

This page is a hub for the content I created around that day: the YouTube video, the English podcast episode, and the Norwegian podcast episode — all in one place.

Key fact: Across the full 2000-day period, I rowed an average of 10,000 meters per day. (Almost all days are 10,000m — and the public log is open for anyone to verify.)

Important: I’m not a doctor. I’m an MS patient sharing personal experience. My training volume is extreme and built slowly over years. Please don’t copy my routine. Always talk to your MS nurse or neurologist before starting new training.

What This Milestone Is Really About

2000 days can sound like a performance story. For me, it’s not. This is not about proving anything to anyone — and it’s definitely not about being “tough”.

It’s about structure. It’s about gratitude. And it’s about the simple privilege of being able to move my body — even while living with MS.

Quick context (for new visitors)

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2009. In 2015, I hit a turning point in life. I weighed around 160 kg — and more importantly, I didn’t have the energy I needed to be the father I wanted to be for my daughter.

I made a radical lifestyle change and lost half my body weight in ten months. But this 2000-day streak is not about weight loss. The streak is about how I live with MS day to day — and how daily movement became my most important “medicine”.

Why I Row Every Day (My Daily Medicine)

Living with MS is unpredictable. Symptoms and energy levels don’t follow normal logic. What I discovered over time is something very simple:

For me, the energy doesn’t come before the workout.
It comes after.

Daily rowing helps me stay awake, functional, and present in everyday life. Not by replacing medical treatment — but by giving me structure, clarity, and a reliable anchor.

Gratitude (The Practical Kind)

Every day starts with a long walk outside — and later, before I row, I sit still for a few minutes. I say thank you. Not for results. Not for numbers. But for the opportunity to move, and to get another day.

I know many people don’t have the same options. That perspective is the heart of this milestone. 2000 days is not an endpoint — it’s a reminder that the only day that really matters is the next one.

Optional: The Viking Illustration (For Humor + Contrast)

During the 2000-day milestone, I also shared an intentionally over-the-top Viking-style illustration. It’s obviously not “real” — and that’s the point. A little humor is part of how I cope, and part of what makes this journey sustainable.
