What This Milestone Is Really About
2000 days can sound like a performance story. For me, it’s not. This is not about proving anything to anyone — and it’s definitely not about being “tough”.
It’s about structure. It’s about gratitude. And it’s about the simple privilege of being able to move my body — even while living with MS.
Quick context (for new visitors)
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2009. In 2015, I hit a turning point in life. I weighed around 160 kg — and more importantly, I didn’t have the energy I needed to be the father I wanted to be for my daughter.
I made a radical lifestyle change and lost half my body weight in ten months. But this 2000-day streak is not about weight loss. The streak is about how I live with MS day to day — and how daily movement became my most important “medicine”.
Why I Row Every Day (My Daily Medicine)
Living with MS is unpredictable. Symptoms and energy levels don’t follow normal logic. What I discovered over time is something very simple:
It comes after.
Daily rowing helps me stay awake, functional, and present in everyday life. Not by replacing medical treatment — but by giving me structure, clarity, and a reliable anchor.
- Structure: a routine that works even on low-energy days
- Control: I can adjust intensity instantly
- Consistency: one day at a time becomes a life strategy
- Gratitude: I never assume I’ll be able to do it tomorrow

Gratitude (The Practical Kind)
Every day starts with a long walk outside — and later, before I row, I sit still for a few minutes. I say thank you. Not for results. Not for numbers. But for the opportunity to move, and to get another day.
I know many people don’t have the same options. That perspective is the heart of this milestone. 2000 days is not an endpoint — it’s a reminder that the only day that really matters is the next one.
Optional: The Viking Illustration (For Humor + Contrast)
During the 2000-day milestone, I also shared an intentionally over-the-top Viking-style illustration. It’s obviously not “real” — and that’s the point. A little humor is part of how I cope, and part of what makes this journey sustainable.
